Festival of the Forks
The weekend of September 16th was a rousing success for the "Fish For Commish" Campaign. Randy rode in the Albion Festival of the Forks Parade (driven by Rose Mary) and greeted thousands of supporters. Afterwards, he "manned his booth" and shared discussions with many supporters and gave out hundreds of balloons to the children. It was a very inspirational day (with great food and entertainment).
Candidate Fisher receives a warm welcome from local churches
On September 10th, Randy (and wife Rose Mary) were invited to attend service and speak to the congregation at Grace Temple Church of God, in Albion. Pastor Steve Williams gave a "stirring" sermon. Randy's message of leadership was well received by the congregation.
On September 24th, Randy was invited to speak and share in the Word of God, with Bethel Baptist Church of Albion. Reverend Fred Alexander and the congregation made Randy and his wife Rose Mary feel right at home. Afterwards, many parishioners shared their concerns regarding Calhoun County Government and encouraged Randy in his Campaign.
Candidate Fisher provides ethanol update to Government Officials from Ohio & Illinois
On September 11th, Randy (along with other township dignitaries) was invited, by "The Andersons" of Maumee, OH to meet with Officials from several out-of-state communities, to discuss the process that was involved in the development of the new ethanol plant in Sheridan Township. Mr. Fisher led many of the discussions with his insight regarding potential citizen concerns and how they were addressed in the conditional use permitting process. The visiting officials extended their thanks to all participants and were grateful for the "voice of experience" that we provided. They felt that, given the helpful information they received, the trip to Albion was more than worth while.

The Difference Between My Opponent and Myself
|
|
I believe that a person will be judged by his/her actions, not his/her words. I believe that my opponent has made (and continues to make) bad decisions for Eastern Calhoun County.
- Conflict of Interest - my opponent has lost two (2) court cases regarding his ability to be a Calhoun County Commissioner and also practice law in Calhoun County Courts. Currently, he has a third case in the State Appeals Court system. This is costing our State money to hear this case which would be better spent on services to our fellow citizens. I have no conflicts of interest affecting my performance of duties as County Commissioner.
- Partisan Appointments - just a couple months ago... my opponent appointed a 23 year old Caucasian to the Senior Millage Appropriations Committee. The purpose of this committee is to oversee the operations of the senior prescription drug program and other senior services that the county provides. The young man that was appointed, is the Chairman of the Democratic Party for Calhoun County. Also, the party leader's wife is the Program Services Director of this Senior Millage Program. Furthermore, this young man has only lived in Albion, a little over 1 year.
I don't care what party is involved, but I feel that a 23 year old that has only lived in our community for one (1) year does not have the experience and understanding of the needs of our seniors.
I feel that an great opportunity was missed to increase the representation of our diverse community on this committee. Finally, another conflict of interest was created.
I believe that this was a bad appointment and decision.
- Violation of Campaign Laws - recently, my opponent filed incomplete Campaign Finance Reports. These reports appear to indicate that he accepted illegal contributions to his campaign. Because my opponent is an attorney, you would assume that he has a great understanding of Campaign Finance Laws and would file proper reports.
I am not an attorney. I am just the "Son of a Carpenter". However, I did not make these mistakes and have practiced "due diligence" in running my campaign and filing reports. Why? Because it is important to me that I do the best job I can, no matter what I am working on.
I promise to practice this same "due diligence" in representing your views, as the 7th District's County Commissioner.
- Promoting Economic Development - My opponent has made no major impact or experience regarding economic development in our area.
Not only am I managing a construction company, that has completed multi-million dollar projects and provide jobs for people for Eastern Calhoun County. But, I personally wrote the conditional use permit for Sheridan Township; that allowed for The Andersons to build their Ethanol Plant here. This $85 million dollar expansion will bring approximately eighty (80) jobs to this area. There are opportunities for our county government to continue to influence economic expansion in the Eastern Calhoun County and create more jobs for our citizens.
With my experience, I believe that I can help promote job opportunities for the Citizens of the 7th District.
